New is MVP of the Week for Turkish TKBL

Kristen Newlin ('07), known in Turkey as Nevin Nevlin, is playing professional basketball for Istanbul University this season after seven seasons with Fenerbahce. New is the starting center for Istanbul Uni and has helped the team rise to fourth place in the Turkish TKBL league. Euroleague.com awarded her the TKBL MVP of the week:
Naturalized American Center Nevin Nevlin (193-C-85) put on an amazing game in the last round for Istanbul Univ. and that's her to receive a Usbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 22. The 29-year old center had a double-double of 19 points and twelve rebounds, while her team edged out Hatay (#12, 6-16) 67-65. Istanbul Univ. is placed at 4th position in Turkish TKBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Istanbul Univ. will need more victories to improve their 14-7 record. In the team's last game Nevlin had a remarkable 55.6% from 2-point range. It was one of impressive evenings for her as usually she does not deliver so high stats. Stanford University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Nevlin is in league's top in rebounds (9th best: 8.3rpg).
