Brook wins 2nd Player of the Week award

27-year old power forward Brooke Smith (191-F/C-84, agency: LBM Management) put on an amazing game in the last round for Comense and receives a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18.

She had the game-high 25 points adding eight rebounds and two assists for Comense in her team's victory, helping them to outclass Bracco Geas (#8, 7-10) with 37-point margin 96-59. Comense maintains the 3rd position in Italian A1. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Comense will need more victories to improve their 12-6 record. Smith turned to be Comense's top player in her first season with the team. Stanford University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Smith is in league's top in points (7th best: 13.1ppg), rebounds (4th best: 8.3rpg) and averages solid 52.1% FGP.

    Brier Dudley's article in the Seattle Times about Kate Starbird is subtitled "Former Seattle Storm superstar Kate Starbird, who's now excelling in academia, will speak at a premier computer-science meeting in Bellevue."

    Cardinal fans know that Kate was a superstar at Stanford too, from '94 to '97.

    Candice re-signs with the Lynx

    The Minnesota Lynx announced this week that they have re-signed Candice.

    Executive VP Roger Griffin said of Candice, “The energy that she provides off the bench and her ability to stretch the floor was instrumental to our success last season. We are looking forward to her continued growth as a player this season.”
