Fenerbache wins Turkish President's Cup

Fenerbahce won the 18th Presidential Cup for the 7th time in history by beating Galatasaray with a sensational 75-58 victory at the sold out Abdi Ipekci Arena, and Kristen Newlin twitters:

President's Cup victory!! Thank you fans! We love you!

The President's Cup is theTurkish Basketball League's annual curtain raiser to the new season between the reigning Turkish league champion (Fenerbahce) and the Turkish Cup holder (Galatasaray).

New shared the celebration with her new teammate, Diana Taurasi.

There are no Cardinal alumnae on the Galatasaray roster this season. Candice signed with the team, but is not likely to play this season as she continues to rehab from her Achilles tendon injury. But there are two other powerful WNBA players on their roster: Seimone Augustus and Sylvia Fowles.

Candice "in a really good place"

Candice was upbeat, positive and full of energy when she spoke with Michelle Smith (Left Coast Hoops) last week. She is at Stanford, taking classes to finish her degree in Communications, and she plans to be around to watch the Stanford women start the new season. Read more...

Gold for Team USA

The USA Basketball Women’s World Championship Team defeated host Czech Republic 89-69 in the Gold Medal Game of the 2010 FIBA World Championship yesterday. The victory earned them the eighth gold for the U.S. in World Championship competition and a place in the 2012 Olympic Summer Games that will be held July 27-Aug. 12 in London.

Jayne said, "{Being on the medal stand] was awesome. It’s just a tremendous feeling, and I’m just so proud. Our team worked so hard to get here. We accomplished our goal, and we are world champions. It was a moment you will never forget. It was just really, really cool."
